Biography
1986年北海道生まれ、東京都在住。画家。
武蔵野美術大学大学院造形研究科修士課程美術専攻油絵コース修了。
2009年に村上隆が主催するGESIAI#13にてゴールデンアクリリック賞を受賞。2021年にはFoundworkのGuest Curators ProgramでMake Roomのファウンダーであり、ディレクターの Emilia Yinに選出される。またベルギーのアート系出版社であるTiqueのSix Questionsというプロジェクトに参加。
近年ではLondon Paint Clubのオンライン展覧会「TOGETHER THROUGH PAINTING」、イギリスのギャラリー、Rise art soho galleryのグループ展「EMERGENCE」に参加するなど、活動の場を世界中に広げている。
彼は虚構と現実の問題を扱うために多様なモチーフを利用します。彼の絵に描かれているものは一見して何が描かれているか明白なものが多いですが、元となる文脈からは切り離されています。それはまるで複数の意味を引き受け（また特定の意味に繋がることを拒絶し）、鑑賞者の確信を奪い取っているようです。現実として経験したことと虚構として想像したことの境界を曖昧にし、見ることの真実性を私達に問いかけます。

Hidetaka Suzuki
Born in Hokkaido in 1986 and currently lives in Tokyo. Painter.
Completed the Master’s Course in Oil Painting at the Musashino Art University Graduate School of Art and Design.
In 2009, he was awarded the Golden Acrylic Prize at GESIAI#13 organized by Takashi Murakami, and in 2021, he was selected by Emilia Yin, the founder and director of Make Room, for Foundwork’s Guest Curators Program. He has also participated in a project called Six Questions for the Belgian art publisher Tique.
He has recently participated in the online exhibition “TOGETHER THROUGH PAINTING” at the London Paint Club and the group exhibition “EMERGENCE” at the Rise art soho gallery in the UK.
He uses a variety of motifs to deal with issues of fiction and reality. Many of the objects in his paintings are obvious at first glance what they depict, but they are detached from their original context. It is as if they take on multiple meanings (and refuse to be connected to any particular meaning), depriving the viewer of certainty. It blurs the boundary between what we experience as reality and what we imagine as fiction, and asks us to question the truthfulness of what we see.
